81. Grandpa's Car
© Warner Bros. Television |
After getting into several accidents in the past couple of months, and getting his license suspended, the aging Grandpa Arnold has trouble driving, but he refuses to listen to his family's concerns. When he is no longer able to drive, he asks Kevin to drive him back home, however, Kevin gets suckered by his own flesh and blood when Grandpa takes control of the car. Suddenly, their road trip takes some unexpected turns to Grandpa's favorite pit stops and roadside attractions. Kevin sees Grandpa's old age creep up on him first hand when he almost gets them into an accident when reminiscing about the old days and not paying attention to the road. He finally realizes he's getting too old to drive and lets Kevin have his cherished Oldsmobile for only a dollar. Kevin will always remember his first car because it was his grandfather's last.

| | This is may favorate episode. It makes me cry every time I watch it as it reminds me so much of my own grandfather who suffered from dimentia. In his later years he was "driving by brail" and denting every pannel on his car. I could relate to this episode on so many levels. I also was young and impatient at the tiem and did not understand or sympahize with my grandfather just liek Kevin. Only later do I now understand. I will never forget my grandpa and his last car. |
